Hi!
I’m Valerie and I grow a lot of potted fig trees at my home in California. You may know me as RosyPosy on the fig forums or SCV Figs on Instagram.
I got into collecting figs when I casually did a simple internet search to see which was the best tasting fig variety. What was supposed to be one, two trees max for our small, home orchard quickly turned into 10, then 20, and then 50+ fig tree cuttings rooting in my house within months. I was amazed to see the diversity of varieties available with fig trees. So many yummy fruits and flavors!
I said to my family, “can you believe there’s a whole forum dedicated to growing fig trees and some people have hundreds of them? Craziness!” 🤪 Well lo and behold, here I am now one of those crazy people with hundreds of potted fig trees in my yard. But I wouldn’t change it for the world and I have officially become a self-proclaimed Fig Nerd. 🤓
It’s been an education to say the least, and now I am also dipping my toes into all things organic, soil health, fermentations, JADAM, KNF, permaculture, ‘permanent’ potting mixes, and more.
What’s this newsletter about?
The Fig Jam is all about sharing the varieties I’m growing and tasting to see which is the best out of all. And along the way, writing my best growing tips and new things I’m learning about. There is a chat area also where I hope to interact with y’all. Post there about your own growing interests as well as pictures of your figs.
Really, I’m just messin’ around in the garden and I hope you’ll join me!
Why subscribe?
Well, if you must ask, subscribing gives you access to The Fig Jam newsletter and website so you never miss an update. I mean, you don’t want to miss an update, do you? That would be embarassing.
