Weeds. We can never get rid of them. They grow everywhere and anywhere, and especially where we don’t want them. We have to deal with them every single year, why oh why do they keep coming back???
This had loads of great info…..I think Emerson sayed, "What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered." —exploring overlooked aspects of nature opens doors to the future we want to live in.
Thanks! I found the info quite fascinating when I was researching the topic. I think getting out of the mentality that everything is an enemy we have to battle with is important because that has led to harmful practices with consequences we really didn’t understand. Getting into a place of harmony and understanding our world certainly makes for a better future! Always love your perspective, Justin. 🙂
Fig Jam, first let me thank you for a wonderful article. So much knowledge that gardeners need to know. As a fellow fig grower I am wondering how you are incorporating calcium into your fig propagation. I grow my trees in pots with some Jadam principles and some synthetic fertilizer. Wood chips and biochar. Any specific things you recommend I try? Thanks. Robert
Thanks, I appreciate that! I wrote an article on calcium a little bit ago, and this is the main way I am incorporating it this year, both through foliar sprays and root drenches, using oyster shells, bones, and eggshells: https://www.thefigjam.co/p/got-eggshells-make-knf-water-soluble?r=4t1xfe
I also apply some gypsum spring and fall. I am also trying out a product new to me this year called BioAg Cal-Mino, which is a high calcium/amino acid combo (the amino acids act like nitrogen for growth,) and I am adding this into the rotation. Hope this helps and answers your question, have a great season this summer!
